The confrontation of the energy needs of humanity, considering the exhaustion of the conventional sources as a fact, is expected to be overtaken in the future by applying the Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion technology in power generation.
The most advanced project of Thermonuclear Fusion, worldwide, is the European one, co-ordinated by the European Union (Euratom) with the attendance of all members of European Union.
Greece contributes in the European Community program from 1999, based on the Convention of Union between GGET and European Union. The project is executed by research teams that belong in Research Centres and Institutions of Higher Education.
The work of the Greek teams is published in valid international scientific magazines and congresses, as well as in the Annual Progress Reports.
Also there is an annual organised School of Physics and Technology of Fusion, in which are presented basically and Advanced seminars in various relative subjects.
